The U.S. House of Representatives is the lower house in POWER. The House was first introduced in POWER IV, but was scrapped in POWER X. It was reintroduced for POWER XII. Click this to see a list of historical speakers.
Mechanics[]
Elections to the House are held every 48 hours, while primaries last for 24 hours. Politicians must win their party's primary before contesting the House election. There are very few losers in a House election, unless you are in a state with very few seats. Seats are apportioned proportionally in each state based on which party has the most votes. Representatives get +0.02 Power Per Hour.
Leadership[]
Congressional leadership is usually decided within parties and isn't a mechanic in the game. The first Speaker of the House, after the Democrats won a majority in POWER's first House election, was Will Ritchie (D). Rumsod introduced an in-game Speaker of the House in POWER XII, elected by a majority of the House in a special bill. The first in-game Speaker was Ted Kennedy (D), who was succeeded by Sleve McDichael (D), after that the Republicans managed to put Steve McQueen (R) as Speaker for 3 days, then Nikki Levi (D), which was replaced after the Seventy First Presidential Election by Teddy McTed (PRP), which is the first Speaker who is not from one of the two biggests parties.
