Coup Dems was a pejorative term used by Domai Loyalists to describe those who took over the party in March 2017. The Coup Dems period began on 4 March 2017 when Bernie Sanders became party chair and ended on 15 March when Spencer Martin resigned as chairman, handing over the reigns to Jeff Rolland.

History[]

On 4 March, Bernie Sanders was elected as party chair of the Democratic Party, replacing Foreman Domai. He was primarily assisted by Sandy Weathers and Spencer Martin. The Coup Dems operated out of a separate Democratic Party discord to the one used by the Domai Loyalists. As chair, Bernie Sanders lowered party fees to 0% on 4 March, before raising them to 10% on 5 March. On 6 March, Sandy won the second primary for the March 2017 presidential election (due to Rumcode, each party had two primaries). Upset that Domai was still a candidate, having won the first primary, Sanders resigned as party chair.

Spencer Martin replaced Sanders as party chair on 7 March, the same day that Sandy switched to the Republican Party to benefit from higher National Support. She said, "I have switched to the Republican party to win this election please still campaign for me as I am the only real supporter of the Democratic party." Sandy also encouraged none of the Coup Dems to run for seats and rather to focus their money and power on campaigning for her. On 11 March, Johnson Henderson Edwards V was appointed as Sandy's campaign manager. On 12 March, Sandy was 5% away from winning, but by 14 March, Domai had a 7% lead. Following Domai's victory on 15 March, the Coup Dems gave up their efforts, and Spencer resigned as party chair, handing over the reigns to Jeff Rolland. The next day, the Great Rumcode Collapse occurred and POWER I ended.

Attempted deal with the Republicans[]

Before the completion of the second set of primaries for the March 2017 presidential election, Sandy and Heydrich attempted to negotiate a deal. Sandy wanted the GOP to let her win the presidential election in exchange for Sandy purging Domai, HHH, and other loyalists. Heydrich wanted Sandy to let him win in return for him giving the Democrats some funding and Sandy purging the loyalists from the party.

I will campaign for you

As it turned out, the primaries were rumcoded. After it turned out that Heydrich would not win, he took less interest in the game and instead, other senior republicans such as Kohl instructed GOP members to campaign for Sandy.
